Failed Credit Purchase: Will Censys Automatically Retry the Payment?

Will a failed credit purchase be automatically retried when my card has sufficient funds?

Hi,

I purchased 10,000 Censys Credits for $1,900, and the purchase was successful.

Later, I tried to purchase another 10,000 Credits for $1,900. However, at that moment, my Visa card did not have enough available credit to complete the payment.

After I submitted the second payment:

  • No additional Credits were added to my account.

  • I did not see a successful or failed payment message.

  • My Censys account still shows only the original $1,900 order; there is no second order.

  • My Visa bank app also shows only the original $1,900 transaction. There is no second pending transaction or authorization.

  • However, my Credit Balance changed from 10,000 / 10,000 to 10,000 / 20,000.

My question is:

Was the second payment attempt automatically cancelled/declined, or is there still a pending payment request on the Censys side?

More importantly, if I later restore enough available credit on my Visa card, could Censys automatically retry the failed $1,900 payment and charge my card without me placing a new order?

I have not enabled Auto-Replenish (if relevant).

I would appreciate it if someone from Censys could clarify how failed card payments are handled and whether they are automatically retried after the card becomes available again.

Thank you!

Hey @zuowang, to answer your questions:

  • No.

  • It was declined. There is no pending payment.

  • No, Censys will not automatically retry the failed payment.

You can ignore the 20,000 credit denominator; that is just an artifact of the failed purchase.

Thank you for clarifying that the failed payment won't be retried and there's no pending request—I'll manually place a new order if needed.
